AMERICAN FOUR SQUARE
The American Four Square house is a direct reaction to the ornate and mass produced elements of Victorian styles. This house was popular from the mid 1890s to the late 1930s.
They were purposely plain with a boxy design that could be purchased from a mail order catalog. You will find lots of American Four Square designs in older Midwestern urban neighborhoods. And most plans included a two cargarage. Manyhavearchedentriesbetweencommonrooms, built-in cabinetry, and Craftsman-style woodwork.
