After School Art Programs

Happen's After School Art Programs (ASAP) provides exciting and fun activities that build community awareness, self-esteem, and life skills through art.

This community outreach program is perfect for schools, community centers, and children's groups for children in grades K-5. Each individual session is 45-minutes long and can accomodate up to twenty children. All supplies are provided by Happen, Inc.

In each session, children learn about art from an interactive, humorous skit, and then apply the art principles they've learned to a fun, take-home art activity. The fee for one session is $250 ($230 for 10 children or less). Two sessions or more per day can be scheduled for larger groups; we offer a discounted rate of $230 each for multiple sessions.

The following are available sessions for ASAP:

	99% Chance of Brainstorming There is a forecast for fun as participants use their imaginations to help Happen's Weather Man report the weather. This session sparks imaginations and shares the creative spirit in both adults and children.
	Barnyard Geometry When you're on Old MacDonald's farm, you'll learn about how the world is made up of geometric shapes, then build and decorate your very own barn.
	Form! Fashion! Function! Get ready to walk the runway. It's not all about fashion when it comes to function. You'll model your own creation that does more than look great! It works!
	I've Got Something to Say Construction Worker teaches different ways in which we all communicate, including sign language and art. Learn the connection between art and emotions, and then create squares for a paper quilt that communicates stories of happiness, family and community.
	Lost and Found in Space Happen's Eno, the One-Point Perspective Alien, has brought some art history with him. Express your thoughts and ideas as we use art to record history. Each participant receives an ENO sketchpad and learns a special lesson about personal property.
	Small Town, Big Values Cowboy Value moseys into town to teach you all about the grayscale. He is half light value and half dark value and full of surprises.
	Special FX Everyone's a star in this session that brings simple in-camera effects to a new level of fun in filmmaking.
	We've Got Rhythm Robbie Rhythm teaches you about the relationship between movement, art and music. You'll get rhythm when you learn about action painters of the past and make your own action drawing.
	You've got the Touch You'll have a great time with this hands-on class where you'll really get a feel for texture! Learn about the wonderful world of textures and how to use texture to make great art! Includes a hands-on art activity.

Ceramics

Ever wonder where your cereal bowl comes from? Children in these clay courses learn about the ceramics process and create their own bowls and pots. These are fired at the Happen studio and are returned in approximately one week, dishwasher and microwave safe!

	A Pinch of Fun with Pinch Pots Making pots with a pinch is a cinch. All you need are your fingers and imagination to make clay pots and bowls you can actually use.
	Grab-A-Slab Make a lasting impression in this clay-molding class. Smoosh, push and press clay into shapes that are sure to impress.
	Wind-Up with Coils You'll get wound up when you roll clay into long cool coils, stacking them as high as you can to build a groovy coil pot.
