Let's Play with Clay
Art Sessions
You might call this a “hands-in” experience for parents and children. However, it’s so much more than the mere making and painting of pottery. Consider the simple joy of sharing with your child the squishy, squeezy creative experience of turning your lump of soft clay into… a lump of painted pottery.
Let's Play with Clay started in 2002 as a one-time class and has expanded to a year-round program for the new Happen space in Northside that provides 52 weeks of free community activities!

Slabs and Vessels
Happen’s character the Wiz is back with all the wrong answers! He will try and figure out: what is a vessel? Can you a famous underwater vessel that is a primary color? Make and glaze your own clay vessels in this session. All clay works of art will be ready to pick within a week.
A Pinch of Fun
Make and glaze your own pinch pot with Happen’s special character Mr. Pinch. Learn why clay is so special and create your own work of functional art. Mr. Pinch walks dogs. Do you know what kind?
Wind Up with Clay Coil Pots
Happen’s know-it-all the Wiz is back to teach how to build a pot using clay coils. Did you know that the Wiz is a poet? Take a listen to the Wiz as he is full of rhyming knowledge that will have you making your own coil pot in no time.
Clay Goes Round and Round
Back by popular demand, this special session lets you throw a clay bowl on a real potter’s wheel! A Happen pottery instructor will help you create your own piece of functional art. Each bowl can be glazed that day and will be ready to pick up within two weeks. One bowl per visitor, and seats are first come, first served.
